Ferragosto in terrazza!

Mentre un affascinante giovane si impossessa della mia cucina per arrostire peperoni e marinare chili di carne, io vi scrivo per augurarvi una buona giornata... perché lo sappiamo tutti: da domani la nostra mente sarà già proiettata all'autunno, le temperature inizieranno ad abbassarsi, le giornate ad accorciarsi e tra poco più di un paio di mesi ci ritroveremo già a pensare ai regali di Natale.

Non vedo l'ora, io.

Perché per me questa parte dell'anno è come un nuovo Capodanno;

perché piano piano le zanzare ci daranno tregua;

perché con il passare dei giorni il mio colorito verdognolo si noterà sempre meno;

perché, lo ammetto, ho già iniziato a lavorare a maglia... e di certo i 40 gradi non aiutano.

Come se fossi ancora una studentessa inizio a segnare il nuovo calendario con pennarellini di tutti i colori e ad occhio e croce mi si prospetterà un anno pieno di impegni, traguardi da raggiungere e fatiche immense... in trepidante attesa delle prossime vacanze estive. 

Immancabile ovviamente la chilometrica lista dei buoni propositi.

Il dolce per il pranzo è pronto, le birre sono in fresco e gli amici rimasti a Pavia arriveranno a breve...

Mid-August holiday on the terrace!

While a handsome young man is taking possession of my kitchen to grill peppers and to marinate chili con carne, I’m writing you to wish you a nice day… because we all know: from tomorrow we will be thinking about the Autumn, the temperature will start to drop, the days will start to get shorter and shorter and in just a couple of months we will be thinking about the Christmas presents.

I’m looking forward to it, really.

Because I think this part of the year is like a New Year’s Eve;

because little by little the mosquitos will give us a truce;

because day by day my pale complexion will be not so pale;

because, and I have to admit, I’ve already started to knit…. And of course the 40°C are not of help.

As if I still were a student, I start to write with different colors on the new calendar and I think that this will be a year full of commitments, goals to reach and considerable efforts… while still waiting for the next summer vacation. 

Not to mention the endless list of good intentions.

The cake for the lunch is ready, beers are cold and the friends still in Pavia will be arriving shortly...
